Oronkua: Members of the municipal education council and school council officials from Oronkua participated in a pivotal meeting on Friday, April 17, 2026, to embrace the Artistic and Cultural Month (MAC) initiative. The meeting was chaired by Nib¨balaon Dabire, the Head of the Basic Education District (CEB) of Oronkua.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the meeting, held in the town hall meeting room, aimed to provide education stakeholders with a comprehensive understanding of the program, scheduled for the last thirty days of the school year. The Arts and Culture Month is an initiative by the Ministry of Basic Education, designed to promote arts, celebrate local cultures, and transmit indigenous knowledge to students, thus strengthening cultural identity within Burkinabe schools.
The discussions during the meeting clarified the responsibilities assigned to school councils. These include raising awareness, mobilizing communities, identifying local resource persons, providing logistical support for activities, and accompanying planned cultural outings. Despite acknowledging the initiative's importance, participants voiced concerns about student supervision, the practical organization of activities, and the involvement of stakeholders without specific financial support. These concerns were addressed satisfactorily during the meeting.
By the meeting's conclusion, school council presidents committed to disseminating the information within their localities and actively participating in the implementation of the artistic and cultural month. Nib¨balaon Dabire expressed gratitude for the participants' dedication to ensuring the program's success for students.
