Oronkua: The Office for the Development of Evangelical Churches (ODE), in collaboration with the special delegation of the municipality of Oronkua, embarked on a significant reforestation project by planting 50 seedlings of African mahogany, neem, and eucalyptus trees in the courtyard of the departmental high school. This initiative, which took place on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, aims to contribute to the national reforestation effort and raise awareness about environmental protection.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the tree-planting session was preceded by a launch ceremony chaired by the President of the Oronkua Communal Special Delegation (PDS), Victor KiswendDondyr©. The event brought together municipal administrative authorities, traditional and religious leaders, high school officials, as well as local youth and women. Drissa Bazi©, the head of the ODE, praised the strong turnout and commitment demonstrated by participants, which he deemed crucial for the initiative's success.

Victor KiswendDondyr©, the President of the Special Delegation of the Oronkua commune, commended the ODE for their efforts, emphasizing that this reforestation activity supports governmental initiatives in environmental protection. He highlighted that the planting of these fifty trees is an investment for future generations and urged the local population to ensure the trees' survival. Drawing an analogy between a tree and a child, the PDS encouraged residents to become stewards of the newly planted saplings and to preserve the trees inherited from past generations, acknowledging the positive outcomes from previous reforestation campaigns in the commune.

Lieutenant Abdoulaye Ouattara, head of the Oronkua Departmental Water and Forestry Service, emphasized the numerous benefits provided by trees and called on everyone to adopt tree protection as a collective responsibility. He stressed the importance of proper care for young saplings to ensure their growth and sustainability.

Following the presentations held in the town hall meeting room, participants proceeded to the Oronkua Departmental High School for the tree planting exercise. The attendees expressed satisfaction in contributing to a useful cause, with each seedling being protected by a protective netting to ensure its growth.
