Opez FK Releases “DARFAN,” a Four-Track EP Addressing Social Issues Among Youth

OUAGADOUGOU – Burkinabè musician artist Opez FK has launched a new musical project, “DARFAN,” a committed maxi consisting of four titles aimed at raising awareness among the youth on various societal issues. This release marks a significant step in his artistic journey, as he seeks to engage with and influence the younger generation through his music.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Opez FK shared insights about his musical career, which began in 2021. After a brief hiatus for personal reasons, he has returned with the “DARFAN” EP. The artist explained that the break allowed him to train and gain more experience in music, equipping him to make a stronger comeback.

The EP consists of four tracks: “Massiba,” “Matata,” a collaboration titled “Sisindèmissin,” and “Tal yam.” Opez FK highlighted that the songs on “DARFAN” aim to raise awareness among young people about issues like unemployment, drug and alcohol consumption, prostitution, and bad behavior. The artist, being young himself, feels a connection to these themes and seeks to advise the youth to be self-reliant, tolerant, and forgiving.

When discussing his inspirations, Opez FK mentioned that his passion for music drives him. He draws from his personal experiences and daily life, influenced by artists such as Francky de Gam, Kayawoto, Super Amzy, and Afro music. The selection of his production team was a careful process, guided by his experienced manager and supported by his production house.

Reflecting on the EP, Opez FK expressed satisfaction with the work accomplished, acknowledging both positive and negative criticism to further his artistic growth. He emphasized the hard work that goes into music creation, often developing songs even when socializing with friends.

Looking forward, Opez FK plans to explore new linguistic horizons. The “DARFAN” maxi already showcases his versatility with songs in Moore, French, and Jula. His next challenge is to sing in other languages spoken in Burkina Faso and beyond, including English.

The recording of the album, which took place in Niangoloko, was not without its challenges. Opez FK recounted an interesting anecdote where he faced health issues just before the recording. Despite a tight deadline and losing his voice due to a cold, he managed to recover and complete the recording on time, overcoming the obstacles with determination.
