Operation Take Down arrests drug suppliers in Bloemfontein

Drug takedown operation yields successes as three main suppliers of drugs and a woman are arrested for possession of drugs.

On 26 July 2023 at about 08:00 a multi-disciplinary operational team consisting of Provincial Serious and violent crimes, Provincial Organised Crime, Crime Intelligence Counter Narcotics and Counter Surveilance teams, Provincial Tracking Team, Tactical Response Team, K9 Unit, Bloemfontein Mounted Unit, Flying Squad and Local Criminal Record Centre conducted an intelligence lead operation on a syndicate dealing in drugs around Bloemfontein area. The team arrested four suspects aged between 29 and 44, including one female aged 29 in the Bloemfontein Central Business District and Northridge Mall.

During the arrest, two vehicles, mandrax tablets, crystal meth and an undisclosed amount of cash, pocket digital weigh scale used to weigh drugs were confiscated from the suspects. A total of 14 cases have been opened against the suspects and they will be charged with dealing in drugs, possession of drugs and offences relating to Immigration Act.

The drugs confiscated prior to the arrest were estimated to be worth more than R90 000-00. The four will appear in court soon.
