Operation Sikhona making a difference in the Joe Gqabi District

Members’ continuous efforts to prevent and detect crime yield the following successes within the Joe Gqabi District as part of “Operation Sikhona” over the weekend.

The operation included the activities of roadblocks, high visibility foot and vehicle patrols, stop and search of persons and vehicles and the monitoring of liquor outlets

The specialised units of K9 and the Aliwal North DOCC together with Detectives and Provincial and local traffics and immigration supported the station’s crime prevention endeavours and contributed to the successes.

At Sterkspruit a 24-year-old suspect was arrested for possession of tik and mandrax and a 52-year-old suspect was arrested for possession of dagga.

As the member of the OCC and crime prevention in the Mount Fletcher area were busy with stop and search patrols, they received positive information of a homestead in the Nkululekweni area.

On their arrival a 29-year-old suspect was arrested for possession of 15 bags of tik and a 30-year-old suspect was arrested for possession of 13 button bags of tik and 26 parcels of dagga. Several dangerous weapons and cellphones were also confiscated during the operation.

At Tabase a man was arrested for selling liquor without a license and received a fine.

The acting District Commissioner Brig Asogran Naidoo commended the members on the successful arrests and confiscations.
