Gauteng MEC for Community Safety, Ms Faith Mazibuko together with Provincial Commissioner of Police in Gauteng, Lieutenant General Elias Mawela led street imibizos on Thursday, 08 June 2023 to engage with community members of Rietvallei (ext 02 and 03) in a concerted effort to strengthen community relations towards a safer province for all. This communty is served by Kagiso police station within the West Rand District.

MEC Mazibuko and Lt Gen Mawela were also accompanied by Deputy Provincial Commissioner: Policing, Major General Tommy Mthombeni, Deputy Provincial Commissioner: Crime Detection, Major General Mbuso Khumalo, West Rand District Commissioner, Major General Fred Kekana, Ward Councillors, local Community Policing Forum, senior officers from SAPS and other law enforcement agencies.

The street imbizos formed part of today’s Operation O Kae Molao which were preceded by a multi-disciplinary roadblock within the area of Kagiso.

Community members had the opportunity to raise their concerns with crime affecting their area during these imbizos.

In turn, Lt Gen Mawela encouraged community members to report criminal activities to their nearest police station.

“Let us join hands in the fight against crime to ensure residents and visitors to Gauteng are and feel safe,” said Lt Gen Mawela.
