Kimberley, Namaqua District – The Namaqua District Management welcomed the sentencing of Kelebogile Sesing, aged 39, to 12 years imprisonment for the fatal stabbing of her ex-boyfriend, Vincent Legalamitlwa, aged 35. The incident took place on 5 December 2021 in Onseepkans, as per a new release by the Namaqua District Police.
According to South African Police Service, The altercation began over a dispute concerning a bag of clothes. Sesing, who fetched a knife from the kitchen during the argument, retaliated after being beaten by the deceased with a steel cable, leading to the fatal stabbing. The court found Sesing guilty of murder with Dolus Eventualis, under Section 51 (1) of the CLAA 105 of 1997.
She was sentenced on 10 November 2023 at the Pofadder Regional Court. Namaqua District Commissioner, Brigadier Schalk Andrews, commended Detective Warrant Officer Christoffel Bekker for his thorough investigation, which secured the conviction. Brigadier Andrews also stated that efforts to address domestic violence and gender-based violence-related crimes will be intensified during the 16 Days of Activism for no violence against women and children, and beyond.
