Ongwediva – The Swapo Party Youth League (SPYL) convened its second central committee meeting at the Sam Nujoma Multi-purpose Centre in the Oshana Region last Friday. This gathering focused on addressing critical issues affecting Namibians, particularly youth unemployment and the ongoing drought. The meeting, held at Ongwediva, saw members engage in discussions aimed at finding solutions to these challenges.

According to Namibia Press Agency (NAMPA), Vice-President of the Swapo Party, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, during the opening remarks, emphasized the necessity of unity among the youth to achieve their goals. She pointed out the importance of balancing politics and development to benefit the Namibian populace. SPYL Secretary Ephraim Nekongo outlined the meeting’s agenda, which included topics like youth unemployment, water scarcity, and drought. Nekongo advocated for greater youth representation in leadership roles within the party, emphasizing the need for fair consideration and opportunities for young people in parliamentary and ministerial positions. He also clarified that there would be no extra-ordinary congress as the party has already chosen its presidential candidate for the 2024 elections.
