Ongwediva Medipark to Host Comprehensive Cancer Awareness Campaign on Saturday

OSHAKATI—The Ongwediva Medipark will conduct its 11th annual cancer awareness campaign, focusing on breast, cervical, and prostate cancers this Saturday.

According to News Releases by Namibia Press Agency reported that Hospital Manager Sakeus Kamati revealed details of the campaign in an interview on Thursday. The event will kick off with a Cancer Run/Walk and a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) presentation. Kamati indicated that the hospital is committed to enhancing the lives of cancer patients through a range of initiatives, including awareness programs and educational resources.

According to Kamati, this year’s event aims to offer a comprehensive platform to educate the public about cancer prevention, early detection, and available treatment options. Three state patients showing symptoms related to cancer have already been identified for further management.

The hospital manager also mentioned that the campaign will feature various educational seminars, survivor testimonials, and fundraising activities. Since its inception on November 1, 2013, over 5,000 men and women have been screened as part of the campaign. Kamati noted that during last year’s campaign, five patients were identified with abnormal cells and are currently under treatment.

Former First Lady and current Patron, Penehupifo Pohamba, is set to officiate at the event.
