ONASER Launches “Night of Road Safety Actors and Partners” in Yaadga

Ouagadougou: The National Road Safety Office (ONASER) organized on Monday an information and exchange meeting on the project "Night of actors and partners of road safety", an activity which aims to mobilize all actors around the fight against road insecurity, AIB noted.

According to Burkina Information Agency, this meeting brought together local media actors, transporters, insurance companies, associations working in the field of road safety as well as representatives of the Defense and Security Forces.

Reading from the Governor of the Yaadga region, Technical Advisor Karim Tasb©do noted that the main causes of accidents include speeding, overloaded vehicles, and not wearing helmets. "That is why ONASER initiated this meeting to share experiences in order to find sustainable solutions to reduce this scourge," he stated.

ONASER representative SamYam©ogo reminded participants that the Office's main missions are to promote road safety, harmonize the road transport sector, and contribute to smoother traffic flow. "ONASER does a lot, but it can't do it alone. That's why it's seeking the support of all partners to form a united front against this scourge," she stated.

This meeting was an opportunity to present, during the discussions, the initiative, "Night of actors and partners of road safety", whose award ceremony will be held in Ouagadougou and will be broadcast to allow other regions to follow.

Five award categories are planned to recognize the best initiatives from individuals, media outlets, associations, businesses, and a special award for innovation in road safety. The pre-selection criteria were explained to the participants, who, moreover, embraced the initiative.
