Omuthiya Mayor Urges Development of Idle Plots to Foster Town Growth


OMUTHIYA: Mayor of Omuthiya, Johannes Ndeutepo, has called for the development of 316 allocated but idle plots in the town. In an interview with Nampa, Ndeutepo expressed concern about the rising number of undeveloped properties and urged plot owners to initiate development within three years to avoid repossession.



According to The Namibia Press Agency, The mayor mentioned lease agreements with plot owners that allow the council to reclaim undeveloped land without refunding the owners. Acknowledging the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Ndeutepo encouraged those facing difficulties to communicate with the council. He highlighted Omuthiya’s rapid growth and plans for future expansion, noting ongoing development activities and the scheduled completion of the town’s water reservoir by June 2024. Ndeutepo also discussed plans to address youth unemployment and improve housing in the Kaniita informal settlement, emphasizing the town’s commitment to progress and development.
