Omusati Region Tragedy: Man Accused of Fatally Beating His Mother


OMUSATI — In a harrowing incident in the Omusati region, the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) has charged a 36-year-old man, reported to have mental health challenges, with the murder of his 104-year-old mother. The alleged attack occurred on Friday around 21:50 at their home in Enkombo village, located in the Etayi constituency.



According to Namibia Press Agency, The victim, identified as Cecilia Vilho of Enkombo village, succumbed to severe head injuries sustained during the assault. It is reported that the suspect, upon returning home, found Vilho and another individual having dinner. He then allegedly took a stick from the fire and used it to beat his mother. Following the attack, Vilho was urgently transported to Oshikuku hospital in a private vehicle and later transferred to Oshakati State Hospital, where she died on Saturday.



The suspect has been arrested and is currently under police guard at Oshikuku hospital, where he has been admitted due to his condition. A murder case, compounded by the implications of domestic violence, has been formally opened against him as police continue their investigation into this tragic event.
