Opuwo: The Omuramba Okaserandu Youth organisation on Thursday hosted a motivational and academic support event at Orumana Combined School, bringing together learners from Orumana Combined School, Otjerunda Combined School, and Alpha Combined School.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Omuramba Okaserandu Youth president Vetjituavi Nderura stated that the organisation was established in February 2025 with the aim of empowering Grade 11 and 12 learners through academic support, mentorship, and career guidance. The initiative encourages students to take their education seriously and adequately prepare for their final examinations.
He elaborated that the organisation offers practical academic assistance through subject specialists who coach learners using previous national examination papers. Additionally, it provides examination stationery, including pens, pencils, erasers, rulers, and calculators, to ensure learners are well-equipped for their exams.
Nderura highlighted the importance of a collaborative effort in improving education, emphasizing that the responsibility does not rest solely on teachers. 'Education cannot be left to teachers alone. It takes the entire community to ensure that our learners succeed,' he remarked.
International University of Management (IUM) student Ripeza Tjindunda also addressed the learners, encouraging them to stay focused despite any challenges. Tjindunda shared her personal journey of overcoming obstacles, noting that she began school later than most and was older than her classmates. Despite this, she remained determined and achieved recognition as a top-performing accounting student in the Kunene Region.
Now a third-year education student at IUM, Tjindunda urged learners to seize available opportunities, stating, 'Never underestimate the power of education. It can change your life and open doors that no one can take away from you.'
The event is part of the Omuramba Okaserandu Youth's ongoing efforts to boost academic performance, inspire learners, and motivate more young people in the Kunene Region to pursue higher education.
