Okongo to Host Fifth Omaludi Agricultural Festival in May

Okongo: The Okongo Village Council has announced that the fifth Omaludi Agricultural Festival will take place at Okongo in the Ohangwena Region from 25 to 30 May 2026. Chairperson of the Omaludi Agricultural Festival, Jackson Muma, stated that the event will be held near the Okongo Airstrip and will bring together farmers, entrepreneurs, and other industry players for exhibitions, networking, and cultural activities aimed at promoting agriculture and rural development. According to Namibia Press Agency, the event has grown into an important platform for economic and agricultural advancement. Muma emphasized, "Over the years, Omaludi has created a powerful platform for farmers, entrepreneurs, and innovators to connect, showcase, and grow. It adds value to the economic development of the region and Namibia at large, while contributing meaningfully to the national agricultural agenda." This year's festival will be held under the theme "Agriculture and Tourism for Sustainable Economic Growth." Muma explained, " The theme denotes the critical role agriculture plays as a driver of inclusive development, while highlighting tourism as a complementary force in unlocking rural economies. Together, these sectors present a powerful pathway toward youth empowerment, innovation, and sustainable prosperity." President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah will be the keynote speaker at the fundraising gala dinner scheduled for 25 April 2026 at the Okongo Village Council offices to mobilize support ahead of the main event.
