Nyeri, Nyeri County – Nyeri County has launched the ‘Plug-in Mtaani Vijana 2 Invest’ initiative, aimed at fostering entrepreneurship among its youth population. Governor Mutahi Kahiga, speaking to the Plug-In Mtaani team during their visit to his office, expressed his support for the program, which focuses on transforming business ideas into tangible opportunities. The initiative is designed to identify, nurture, and sustain the entrepreneurial talents of young residents by offering them a head start in their business ventures.
According to Kenya News Agency, The Plug-In Mtaani team, led by National Director Caroline Wairimu, will collaborate with the Nyeri County Department of Gender, Youth, Sports, and Social Services, Department of Trade, Tourism, Culture, and Cooperative Development. The program also involves partnerships with the State Department of Commerce, Ken Invest, RADICO Kenya, ICST, and Crescent 360 Limited.
The training and capacity-building components of the program will be based on the International Labour Organisation Business Management Training Programme, known as Start and Improve Your Business (ILO-SIYB). Additionally, a savings and investment master class will be included to equip the youth with comprehensive skills for business development. This initiative represents a significant step in empowering the young population of Nyeri County, providing them with the tools and knowledge necessary to thrive in the world of entrepreneurship.
