Nyanza Region to Host International Investment Conference to Stimulate Economic Growth


Kisumu, Kenya – The inaugural Nyanza International Investment Conference is set for June 28-29, aiming to spotlight and leverage the business potential of the Nyanza region. This significant event seeks to attract global investors to the six counties of Kisumu, Siaya, Homa Bay, Migori, Kisii, and Nyamira.



According to Kenya News Agency, Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy, the conference in Kisumu will enjoy robust government support, featuring an opening ceremony and keynote address by President Dr. William Ruto. Owalo emphasized the commitment of various government departments, noting that Cabinet and Principal Secretaries from relevant ministries will participate to discuss investment opportunities in sectors identified for development.



The event is organized by the Nyanza Professionals, who aim to facilitate public-private partnerships that could drive regional economic advancement. Speaking during a preparatory meeting in Kisumu, Owalo praised the initiative for its potential to expedite development across Nyanza. He highlighted ongoing government projects, such as a Sh3 billion aquaculture center in Kisumu and the modernization of fish landing sites along Lake Victoria, as part of efforts to bolster the blue economy.



Japh Olende, Chairman of the Nyanza Professionals Caucus, revealed that the conference would feature a comprehensive catalogue of investment opportunities tailored to each of the six counties. The focus areas include health, agriculture, tourism, mining, water and irrigation, infrastructure, and ICT.



Olende also announced a partnership with the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI), which has committed to mobilizing its members to participate actively in the conference. Ken Onditi, National Director of KNCCI, stated the event would provide a platform for networking and accessing broader markets, differentiating it from previous regional investment conferences.



The two-day conference will include panel discussions, exhibitions, and presentations designed to showcase various projects and innovations, aiming to draw substantial investor interest and community involvement.
