Awasi, Nyando Sub-County - Youths in Nyando Sub-county have been advised to take up courses in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions. The aim is to equip them with skills that can enable them to secure jobs in today's economy.
According to a new release by Kenya News Agency, Mr. Elijah Maranga, these institutions offer affordable education due to government subsidies. Maranga, speaking at the Nyando Sub-County Headquarters during Mashujaa Day celebrations, also suggested that youths could partner with the Kenya Forest Services to establish tree nurseries as a source of income. On the matter of security, Maranga expressed concern over rising incidents of livestock theft and urged residents to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities. In anticipation of the El Nino rains, Maranga informed the public that the Disaster Management Committee had initiated flood mitigation measures, including the construction of trenches in flood-prone areas.
