NUSA To Help Create Job Linkages For Members

The new Narok University Student’s Association (NUSA) leadership has committed to unite all tertiary level students in the county with the aim of boosting linkages to potential employers after school. NUSA secretary general Nampayo Kaleke said the students are drawn from all the ethnic groups that live in the county and have come together with a common agenda of boosting their livelihood. Kaleke said the organization will be approaching influential people in the county and country to seek job opportunities for their members who are in different fields. Moreso, the secretary general reiterated that they will seek bursaries and sponsorship for the neediest students in their midst so that no one will have to defer or drop out of school because of lack of funds. He thanked his fellow students for electing him in office promising to make the group more relevant by building more linkages that will connect them to the job markets. His sentiments were echoed by the group’s new treasurer Ms. Lamelock Nana who said they will be holding investment forums so that apart from seeking white collar jobs, the young students will be encouraged to venture into business. ‘What we want is to see the young graduates doing something productive even after school. We do not want to see a scenario where young graduates commit suicide, engage in drugs and early marriages because of frustrations,’ she said. James Nakola, the Director of youth at the Narok County Government lauded the young people for coming together for a noble course. He encouraged the youths to hold several forums that would bring them together like sports, entertainment and motivational talks. Nakola said he will actively engage the youths in national sporting activities that are held at the William Ole Ntimama Stadium as a way of nurturing their talents and keeping them engaged. Douglas Tanyea, a representative from the governor’s office reiterated that Narok Governor Patrick Ntutu was willing to support the students but asked them to be always organized and focused in their course. They were speaking today at William Ole Ntimama stadium during their first meeting since they were elected in office in March this year.
