Nujoma’s Family to Consult with State on Proceedings

Windhoek: The family of Founding President Sam Nujoma will on Monday consult with the State on plans and activities to celebrate his life. This was said by Nujoma’s nephew and Chief Executive Officer of the Capricorn Group, David Nujoma, on Sunday. Nujoma, 95, died in Windhoek on Saturday.



According to Namibia Press Agency, David Nujoma told Nampa the family is consulting on the programme to determine the dates of various activities that need to take place. On Sunday, mourners had gathered at the founding president’s residence on the outskirts of Windhoek.



‘Most of the activities will be here (Nujoma residence). Tomorrow we will have a comprehensive consultation between the family and the State to determine the way forward,’ he said. Nujoma indicated that the response from Namibians in the form of messages of condolences and visits has been overwhelming.



‘We are celebrating his life and unparalleled achievements for Namibia, even as we mourn his passing. We are mourning with a spirit of celebration,’ he said.
