Noumbiel: Noumbiel is being honored for cultural heritage month in the Dj´r´ region. As part of the celebration of Burkina Faso's Heritage Month, themed "Heritage and cultural diversity: commitments, roles and responsibilities of stakeholders", the Regional Directorate in charge of culture of Dj´r´, in collaboration with the authorities of Noumbiel, celebrated the event on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, following a ceremony of raising the national colors and a guided tour of the site of the Senegalese Tirailleurs cemetery, presided over by the High Commissioner of the province, Drissa Hema.
According to Burkina Information Agency, as part of the Burkinabe Heritage Month, 2026 edition, the Noumbiel province in the Dj´r´ region was designated to launch the activities. Administrative, military, customary and religious authorities, as well as cultural actors and the driving forces of the province, all magnified the event by their presence in order to testify to the importance of this commemorative month.
Following the raising of the colors, the High Commissioner of the province, Drissa Hema, delivered the full message from Captain Ibrahim Traore, Head of State. In his address, the Head of State recalled the importance of cultural heritage for national identity, social cohesion and sovereignty, while calling for collective mobilization for its safeguarding and transmission to future generations.
On this occasion, after the raising of the national colors, a guided tour with commentary of the site of the Senegalese Tirailleurs cemetery allowed participants to better understand the history and importance of this cultural heritage.
