Ouagadougou—The Regional Directorate of Economy and Planning of the North (DREP) is developing a map of stakeholders and their interventions in the Northern region, inviting NGOs and civil society organizations to register with its service by May 31, 2024.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the dual security and humanitarian crisis has led to an influx of partners alongside the Burkinabe Government and traditional regional actors. While their contributions are beneficial, there is a lack of coordination among stakeholders and interventions. DREP-Nord technicians noted the absence of an exhaustive database on all development actors and their actions in the region, creating difficulties in harmonizing approaches and synergizing actions.
To address this, the DREP-Nord is implementing a recommendation from the National Stabilization Window of Burkina Faso (FNS-BF) project to establish a platform for exchanges among stakeholders in stabilization. Regional Director Polycarpe Naré stated that this mapping would identify actors and potential synergies to optimize interventions and improve living conditions. Data collection will be carried out to produce the map and identify possibilities for complementarity and synergy between actors. "I invite all NGOs, associations, cooperatives, development agencies, and the United Nations system to register via the communicated links to create an exhaustive database of all development actors in our region," Naré said.
