Nored Launches Electricity Safety Campaign in Kavango East

Kavango east: The Northern Regional Electricity Distributor's (Nored) Head of Corporate Communications, Simon Lukas, on Monday urged residents of the Kavango East Region not to climb electricity poles, cut the poles down, or construct buildings near power infrastructure, amongst others.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Lukas issued the warning during an electricity safety awareness and education campaign aimed at reducing accidents and protecting critical power infrastructure in the region. He emphasised that tampering with or building close to electrical poles poses serious safety risks and can disrupt electricity supply to communities.

Nored is conducting electricity safety awareness and education campaigns in schools across its areas of operation, including the Kavango East Region. The awareness campaign runs from 09 to 13 March 2026 and started at the Tuhingireni Project School, with four more schools to be visited.
