Norbert Lammert Visits National Council of Namibia

Windhoek – Norbert Lammert, Chairperson of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS), made a courtesy visit to the National Council of Namibia in Windhoek. During the visit, Lammert and the Namibian delegation, led by Lukas Sinimbo Muha, Chairperson of the National Council, engaged in discussions about the organizational structures of their respective federal systems. Lammert highlighted the shared history and similar constitutional structures between the two nations. Muha emphasized the significance of the partnership between KAS and the National Council, marking the visit as the start of a strong working relationship. He expressed gratitude for KAS’s support in the National Council’s five-year strategic plan, extending till the 2027/2028 financial year. The chairperson also stressed the importance of digitalization, citing the launch of Namibia’s e-parliament strategy to enhance public participation in legislative processes.

According to Namibian Press Agency (NAMPA), Additionally, Muha addressed the challenges posed by climate change and the need for effective risk management systems. He concluded by acknowledging the positive relations between the German and Namibian parliaments, with hopes for expanded cooperation beyond governmental levels.
