Gourma: The Non-Formal Basic Education Center (CEBNF) in sector 8 of Fada N’Gourma organized an open day on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, in the city of Yendabili.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the center aimed to raise awareness about its programs and achievements. Director Louise Thiombiano highlighted the center’s contributions, stating that since its establishment, it has trained nearly a thousand young people and adolescents, with 90% of them being Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). The center offers a range of long-term and short-term courses, including mechanics, carpentry, welding, sewing, breeding, solar energy, and paving stone making, among others.

During the event, learners showcased their products, impressing authorities and education partners alike. Regional Director Yentéma David Thiombiano emphasized the importance of supporting such centers in line with the government’s vision of equipping learners with skills for future employment and societal contribution.

Despite its successes, Director Thiombiano outlined several challenges faced by the center, including the lack of proper infrastructure and equipment. He called upon stakeholders to devise innovative solutions to foster the center’s growth and effectiveness.

Established in 1995, the CEBNF primarily focuses on literacy and vocational training for young people and adolescents aged 9 to 35, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds.
