Nob©r©: Training Workshop Concludes with Focus on School Resilience and Safety

Tenkodogo: The recent closure of a four-day training workshop in Nob©r© marked a significant step towards enhancing the resilience of the local school system. Presided over by Dominique Dipama, the Provincial Director of Preschool, Primary and Non-Formal Education (DPEPPNF) of Zoundw©ogo, the workshop focused on various educational approaches, including the “Child-Friendly Quality School” initiative, school safety protocols, and peace education strategies.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the event, held at the Nob©r© town hall, began on March 23rd and successfully engaged teachers and community stakeholders in strengthening their educational capacities. Dominique Dipama conveyed the educational authorities’ satisfaction, emphasizing the discipline and active participation of the attendees. He relayed a message from the Regional Director, expressing gratitude for the quality of discussions during the session.

Throughout the workshop, participants voiced concerns to the province’s top education official. Issues such as the delimitation of school districts, insufficient boreholes, and the challenge of student dropouts due to gold mining activities were highlighted. In response, Mr. Dipama tasked Sandaogo Prosper Ilboudo, the Head of the Nob©r© Basic Education District (CCEB), with collaborating with the town hall to address these concerns, particularly securing school land.

Mr. Dipama also addressed the ongoing issue of artisanal gold mining, urging stakeholders to prioritize education over the immediate financial gains offered by mining. He encouraged parents to avoid comparing their children to those involved in mining, warning that such praise could lead students to abandon education for mining opportunities.

At the conclusion of the workshop, an evaluation showed a 92% satisfaction rate among participants, indicating that the educational and organizational goals of the session were mostly achieved.
