No Angolan Victims in South Africa Unrest, Embassy Confirms

Maputo: The Angolan Embassy in South Africa reported on Monday that, to date, there is no official record of Angolan citizens directly affected by acts of violence, within the context of the demonstrations and social tension taking place in recent days in that country. In a statement sent to ANGOP, the Angolan diplomatic mission states that it is closely monitoring the situation.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the Embassy indicates that diplomatic and consular authorities maintain constant contact with Angolan communities, appealing for calm and the adoption of prudent behavior, with emphasis on the need to avoid unnecessary travel, especially to areas where there are gatherings or demonstrations. The document also recommends strict compliance with the guidelines of local authorities.

In case of need, Angolan citizens should contact the diplomatic and consular services in their respective areas of jurisdiction, namely the Consulate General of Angola in Johannesburg, for the Northern region, and the Consulate General in Cape Town, for the Southern region, or the Embassy of Angola in Pretoria. The Embassy reaffirms its commitment to continue protecting and assisting Angolan citizens, remaining available for any clarifications or necessary support through the usual channels.
