NISS Chief Participates in Nationwide Tree Planting, Stresses Importance of Reforestation


ADDIS ABABA – Ambassador Redwan Hussien, Director General of the National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS), has actively participated in today’s nationwide tree planting campaign, emphasizing the critical role of reforestation in securing a sustainable future for Ethiopia. The campaign, which aims to plant 600 million seedlings in a single day, is part of Ethiopia’s broader Green Legacy Initiative.



According to Ethiopian News Agency, the initiative not only enhances the landscape but also plays a vital role in mitigating the effects of climate change. He called on all citizens to continue their participation in these efforts, highlighting the progress Ethiopia has made in increasing its forest cover from 17.2 percent in 2019 to 23.6 percent by 2023. Reliable sources note that Ethiopia has planted 32.5 billion tree seedlings since the inception of the initiative in 2019, with an additional 7.5 billion expected to be planted this rainy season, bringing the total to 40 billion.
