Nigerien Citizens in Tahoua Rally for Withdrawal of American Troops


TAHOUA – A significant rally was held in Tahoua, Niger, where locals, students, and security personnel gathered to call for the immediate removal of American military forces from the region. The demonstration was organized by the Regional Support Committee for the National Council for the Protection of the Homeland (CNSP) and took place at the city’s official platform, under the oversight of regional authorities including the Governor of Tahoua.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the rally saw a wide participation from the community and featured visible displays of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) and Russian flags, marking Russia’s emerging strategic partnership with Niger. Souleymana Abdou Moumouni, the president of the CNSP’s Regional Support Committee in Tahoua, highlighted the CNSP’s efforts in national sovereignty and homeland protection. He praised the CNSP’s role in terminating military agreements with France and its initiatives in combating terrorism alongside Mali and Burkina Faso.



The event also included endorsements of the CNSP’s recent military upgrades and collaborations, particularly with Russia, aimed at enhancing national security. The Committee reiterated its support for the CNSP’s ongoing actions to reclaim Niger’s sovereignty from foreign military presence, urging continued vigilance and mobilization among the Nigerien people.



Furthermore, the Governor of Tahoua expressed gratitude towards the demonstrators and echoed the call for American troops to exit Niger, following the recent withdrawal of French forces. He outlined upcoming CNSP-led projects to advance security, cultural, and agricultural development in the region aimed at achieving food self-sufficiency.
