ABUJA — Nigerian authorities have issued an arrest warrant for British national Andrew Wynne, also known under aliases Andrew Povich and Drew Povey, on charges of conspiring to overthrow President Bola Tinubu. A special inter-agency task force has been formed to probe the allegations, which involve other foreign operatives, according to official reports.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, a significant investigation is underway into Wynne and various accomplices accused of planning unconstitutional regime change and inciting violence across Nigeria. "The Nigerian Police Force has launched a comprehensive investigation into the activities of a foreign national and subversive elements who were plotting to undermine the democratically elected government of Nigeria," Adejobi stated. He further detailed that the plot included orchestrating violent protests and spreading misinformation to destabilize the nation.
The investigation has already resulted in the apprehension of nine individuals linked to this conspiracy, who allegedly received significant financial backing from foreign entities aiming to disrupt national stability. "Preliminary findings suggest that they orchestrated and financed violent protests, spread false information, and engaged in other illegal activities to create anarchy and justify their illegal plot to overthrow the democratically elected government," added a Nigerian Defense spokesperson, underscoring the severity of the threat.
