Nigeria Allocates $2.5 Billion to Strengthen Healthcare System

Nigeria: President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria has announced the release of $2.5 billion to bolster the country’s primary healthcare system from 2024 to 2026. This significant financial commitment was made public on December 12, National Universal Health Coverage Day.

According to Africa News Agency, the funding will be directed towards restructuring the Basic Health Care Provision Fund, which aims to ensure access to essential healthcare services for the poorest households in Nigeria. A portion of the allocated funds will also be utilized for the comprehensive reform of primary healthcare centers and for enhancing the capabilities of healthcare personnel.
