Niger President Temporarily Revokes Nationality of Mariama Djibrine

Niamey: The President of the Republic of Niger, Army General Abdourahamane Tiani, has signed a decree provisionally revoking the Nigerien nationality of Mariama Djibrine, also known as Mayra. This decision was announced on Thursday, June 11, 2026, as per a statement from the General Secretariat of the Nigerien government.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the revocation aligns with the provisions of Ordinance No. 2024-43, dated August 27, 2024, and its amendment, Ordinance No. 2024-46, dated October 7, 2024. These ordinances pertain to individuals, groups, or entities involved in acts that threaten the strategic and fundamental interests of Niger or potentially disrupt public peace and security.

The official document indicates that Mariama Djibrine, born on May 27, 1989, in N'Guigmi, faces prosecution for actions including disseminating data likely to disturb public order, inciting revolt, and colluding with a foreign power.
