Niger Opens National School of Oil and Gas Amid Production Boost

ZINDER, Niger — In a significant step towards enhancing its educational infrastructure and supporting its burgeoning oil and gas industry, Niger has inaugurated the National School of Oil and Gas (ENPG), situated at the André Salifou University in Zinder.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Research and Technological Innovation, Professor Mamadou Saidou, the inauguration ceremony was held on May 17 and attended by key figures including the Secretary General of the Zinder governorate, university officials, members of the Defense and Security Forces, and students. The ENPG is set to offer professional licensing and master’s level training, as well as development and retraining programs for engineers and technicians in the oil sector.

The opening of the school coincides with a substantial increase in Niger’s oil production, which has recently risen from 20,000 to 110,000 barrels per day. This boost in production is already making an impact on the international market, with exports flowing through a pipeline to Benin.
