Niger Expresses Solidarity with Burkina Faso Following Barsalgho Terror Attack


Niamey, Niger — Following the devastating terrorist attack in Barsalgho, Burkina Faso, Nigerien President Brigadier General Abdourahame Tiani extended his condolences and support to Burkina Faso on Monday.



According to Burkina Information Agency, he conveyed his deep compassion and sincere condolences to his counterpart, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, the government, and the people of Burkina Faso, particularly to the families who lost loved ones in the attack. “The Nigerien people are always in solidarity with the brotherly Burkinabè people in all the trials they are experiencing and their determination will not fail in our common struggle for true sovereignty and the integrated development of our AES Confederation,” stated General Tiani.



The attack, which occurred on Saturday in Barsalgho, a commune in north-central Burkina Faso, involved terrorists indiscriminately firing on civilians and security forces engaged in community work, resulting in significant casualties and injuries.



President Tiani’s message highlighted the resilience of the Nigerien and Burkinabe peoples, noting that the tragedy would only strengthen their resolve to defeat the perpetrators and their backers, asserting their commitment to peace and progress within the AES Confederation. He also wished a speedy recovery to those injured and prayed for the peace of the souls lost in this tragic incident.
