Ouagadougou: At least 13 people identified as terrorists or accomplices were neutralized between April 20 and 26, 2026, by Niger's defense and security forces (FDS) during various ongoing operations across the country. This information was released by the Integrated Operations Coordination Center (CICO) in its press release disseminated on Tuesday, April 28, a copy of which was obtained by the Nigerien People's National Army (ANP). According to Burkina Information Agency, through targeted offensive actions, supported by the exploitation of intelligence and rapid interventions, the FDS have strengthened their control of sensitive areas and inflicted significant losses on armed groups and criminal networks. On April 23, 2026, during Operation Niya, a security patrol near Torodi on the right bank of the Niger River neutralized two enemy elements identified as terrorist lookouts. In the same operational zone, CICO reported that on April 26, near Karmari, three terrorists planting an improvised explosive device were neutralized, and the device was recovered and destroyed on site. As part of Operation Shara, near the village of Inkotoyan, a detachment of the Defense and Security Forces neutralized two terrorists on April 22, seizing a motorcycle from the assailants. On the same day, three kilometers north of Dogon Tapki, a targeted operation resulted in the neutralization of six armed terrorists, with all their weapons seized. During Operation Damissa on April 23, on the Saboula-Bossey road, 13 km southeast of Falmey, a routine patrol detected two improvised explosive devices. A military engineering team controlled their destruction without incident. In the east, as part of Operation Nalewa Dole on April 24, north of Nguigmi, a patrol in the Birzoweya sector seized a Toyota vehicle and war materiel intended for the Boko Haram group. The recovered items included an AK-47 rifle, magazines, Motorola radios, and ammunition, although those transporting the materiel escaped before intervention.
