Niamey: more than 30 thousand people support the new authorities

More than 30,000 people gathered in Niamey on Sunday to support Niger's new authorities, AIB has learned.

A meeting in support of the National Council for the Safeguarding of the Homeland (CNSP) took place on Sunday at the Seyni Kountché stadium in Niamey, at the call of various organizations.

The stadium of more than 30,000 seats was literally stormed and the crowd outside the enclosure was also numerous.

The organizers were obliged to interrupt the demonstration to avoid excesses.

A CNSP delegation led by General Tomba Mahamadou came to thank the population for its support by reaffirming the commitment of the new authorities not to give in to any blackmail.

As a reminder, the ultimatum given by ECOWAS to the CNSP to restore President Mohamed Bazoum to his duties expires this Sunday.
