NGO Organizes Sports and Cultural Activities for Children in Crisis-Stricken Sourou.

Sourou: An NGO organizes sports and cultural activities for the benefit of children affected by the security crisis The NGO Terre des hommes (Tdh)-Lausane Sourou section, through its ‘RESPECT’ project, organized from November 23 to 24, 2024, sports and cultural activities in Tougan, for the benefit of children and young people affected by the security crisis, in the Sourou province of the Boucle du Mouhoun region.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the project called “RESPECT” aims to strengthen social cohesion, living together, and more importantly, foster the development of children and young people affected by the crisis through sport and culture. In alignment with this goal, the city of Tougan was enlivened for two days with activities including traditional wrestling, recreational games, and performances by artists.

The event was chaired by the prefect and president of the special delegation (PDS) of the commune of Tougan, Ouigou Tiendrébeogo, and saw participation from various social classes and
sister NGOs. “We are 100% successful considering the turnout we observed in Tougan during these two days of events. We are very happy,” stated Herman Yelemou, the project manager of “RESPECT,” during the closing ceremony.

Ouigou Tiendrébeogo expressed his congratulations to the organizers for the success of the activity, commending the NGO Terre des hommes Lausane for its noble mission in Burkina Faso, particularly in the Sourou province. He also expressed hope that such events would continue for the well-being of children and young people.

As part of the event, the best wrestlers in two categories, girls and boys, were awarded prizes including bags of rice, boxes of spaghetti, balls of soap, and other gadgets.
