Sandbondtenga: The NGO APIL donated kits and equipment worth more than 146 million FCFA to more than a thousand vulnerable people in the Koulse region on Wednesday in Kaya, during a ceremony presided over by technical advisor Rasmane Niki¨ma, representing the governor of the Koulse region.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the endowment was made possible through the efforts of the NGO APIL, with its partners Oxfam, Help, and Cordaid, and aims to strengthen the means of production for more than 1,074 people from returnees, internally displaced persons, and host communities in the provinces of Sandbondtenga, Namentenga, and Bam.
The donation consists of hygiene, dignity and menstrual hygiene management kits, solar streetlights, income-generating activity kits, installation materials such as paint, plumbing, and electricity, processing and preservation equipment, as well as production inputs, particularly for fish farming.
For the general coordinator of the NGO APIL, Abdoulaye Ouedraogo, this initiative reflects "the realization of joint efforts" in service of communities, in an integrated approach combining humanitarian action, economic recovery, and local development. "Each kit handed over, each piece of equipment distributed, each activity supported represents a concrete opportunity for beneficiaries to rebuild their lives, strengthen their autonomy, and regain their dignity," he said.
Abdoulaye Ouedraogo specified that the distribution of equipment and tool kits will continue until April 14, 2026. He also stressed that this handover of equipment and tool kits is part of the implementation of three projects: the fish farming project for employment and food security, the project "Centering women and girls in the response to and mitigation of sexual and gender-based violence in conflict-affected communities in Burkina Faso," and the Peace and Development for Displaced Persons and Vulnerable Hosts (PADEP) project.
In his speech, read by his technical advisor, the governor congratulated the NGO APIL and its partners for this intervention which, according to him, is not limited to a simple distribution of goods, but contributes to tackling the causes of precariousness. Emphasizing transparency in distribution and rigorous monitoring of the impact of the kits on the ground, the regional authority invited beneficiaries to transform the tools received into "wealth and hope".
