NFCPT Donates N$300,000 to Support Construction of Ondangwa Stadium

ONDANGWA — The Namibia Fish Consumption Promotion Trust (NFCPT) contributed N$300,000 towards the construction of the new state-of-the-art sports stadium in Ondangwa, a move aimed at boosting sports infrastructure in the region.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the donation was part of a commitment made during the annual State-Owned Enterprises CEO’s Forum, which took place at a gala dinner on June 6, 2024. The CEO’s Forum Executive Committee selects projects in the host region for support by state-owned enterprises (SOEs), and the Ondangwa sports complex was chosen as a beneficiary. “I believe that this project that the Ondangwa Town Council has embarked upon is a project of national importance and is poised to benefit not only Ondangwa and the surrounding localities but the entire northern regions and the country at large,” Pea stated.

Pea emphasized that the donation underscores NFCPT’s commitment to significant national projects, particularly in enhancing Namibia’s sports facilities. He expressed hope that NFCPT’s contribution would spur further investments into Ondangwa and the northern region, potentially bringing economic benefits and creating job opportunities through such developmental initiatives.

Julia Kapia, chairperson of the Ondangwa Town Council’s management committee, commented on the broader impact of the stadium, describing it as more than just a construction project but as a vision for the community. The stadium is envisioned as a place where athletes can hone their skills, families can gather to support their teams, and the community spirit can thrive. “This facility will serve as a center of activity, a source of pride, and a testament to our commitment to promoting excellence and friendship through sports,” Kapia noted.
