Newborn Found Abandoned in Ouahigouya, Burkina Faso

Ouahigouya, Burkina Faso – A newborn male was discovered abandoned during the night of Friday, November 17 to Saturday, November 18, 2023, in the Taamsin district of Ouahigouya, as reported by the local news agency AIB.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the head nurse of the Health and Promotion Center (CSPS) of Bingo, Almissi known as Abdoulaye Tao, in sector 7, the baby was found around 2 a.m. on Saturday in the undeveloped area of the Taamsin neighborhood. The infant, with his umbilical cord still attached, was brought to the CSPS by a local woman at around 8 a.m.

Following the discovery, the gendarmerie conducted an initial investigation, and the baby received first aid at the health facility. Authorities have opened an investigation to locate the child’s parents and understand the circumstances surrounding the abandonment.
