Kavango West Region: A newborn baby boy was discovered abandoned in the bushes at Bunya village in the Kavango West Region on Tuesday. Chief Inspector Raimbert Muronga confirmed the incident, stating that the baby was found with a brick placed on his head.
According to Namibia Press Agency, it is alleged that an unknown suspect, believed to be the baby’s mother, attempted to kill the child by placing the brick on his head. A cattle herder, alerted by the baby’s cries coming from the bushes near Bunya hospital, found the baby and reported the discovery to the police.
The police appealed to residents to assist in identifying any woman who was recently pregnant but is now without a baby. Muronga stated that once apprehended, the suspect will be charged with attempted murder and domestic violence.
The baby was admitted to the Rundu State Hospital and is in stable condition. Police investigations continue.
