New Urban Green Space, ‘Bosquet de l’arrondissement 7,’ Opens in Ouagadougou with 100 Trees Planted

OUAGADOUGOU — In a move to enhance urban greenery and environmental sustainability, Ouagadougou celebrated the inauguration of the ‘Bosquet de l’arrondissement 7’ this Saturday with the planting of 100 young trees. Located in the southwestern part of the city, this new park aims to provide a natural oasis within the bustling urban landscape.

According to Burkina Information Agency, president of the special delegation of the district, the event brought together citizens, local monitoring associations, and residents of sector 31, which encompasses the sub-sectors of Bonheur-ville, Wapassi, and Belle-ville. Participants planted a variety of local tree species, marking a significant step in the city’s efforts to promote environmental awareness and action. “Planting a tree must become a reflex for every Burkinabe,” stated Yougbare/Yanra during the ceremony.

The opening of this green space is part of a broader reforestation campaign launched by Burkina Faso on June 22, 2024, in Bobo-Dioulasso, aimed at combating the increasing degradation of the country’s vegetation cover. This initiative reflects the nation’s commitment to environmental restoration and sustainable urban planning.
