New Semi-Mechanized Gold Production Factory in Burkina Faso Expects Profits of 7 Billion FCFA

GAOUA — The upcoming semi-mechanized gold production factory in Gaoua, scheduled for groundbreaking on July 4, is projected to yield substantial annual profits of around 7 billion FCFA from an investment of between 2.5 and 3 billion FCFA, as announced by Karim Traoré, Director General of the Agency for the Promotion of Community Entrepreneurship (APEC).

According to Burkina Information Agency, the plant, eagerly anticipated by investors, represents a significant step forward in community-driven economic development. "This project, part of a broader initiative started by the state last year, aims to galvanize our community entrepreneurship efforts through popular shareholding," he stated during the 8 pm news on Burkina national television. The plant will cover 100 hectares with a processing capacity of 100 tonnes per day, utilizing advanced technology for mining and waste recovery from neighboring sites.

The initiative, launched by Head of State Captain Ibrahim Traoré on June 12, 2023, has already garnered significant support, with around 270 thousand people subscribing and nearly 17 billion FCFA mobilized. The factory is expected to create 150 direct and nearly 300 indirect jobs in the region, enhancing local employment and skill levels through additional training programs.

Traoré also encouraged those still considering the investment to take action soon, as the opportunity will close at the end of this year when the first phase of the subscription program ends.
