New Regional Director of Water and Sanitation Takes Office in Sanematenga

Kaya – In a significant development for the Center-North region of Sanematenga, Gaël Yaméogo was officially installed as the regional director of Water and Sanitation on November 3, 2023. The installation ceremony, led by the governor of the Center-North region, Blaise Ouédraogo, took place in Kaya, marking the beginning of Yaméogo’s tenure in this crucial role.

According to Burkina Information New Agency, Appointed by the Council of Ministers on October 11, 2023, Yaméogo’s installation was held at the premises of the Regional Directorate in charge of Water in the Center-North. He takes over from Souleymane Ouédraogo, who has been admitted to professional training.

During the ceremony, Yaméogo was described by colleagues and Governor Ouédraogo as a committed and always available individual. In his address, Governor Ouédraogo highlighted the significant responsibilities that come with Yaméogo’s new position. He noted that the regional directorate of Water and Sanitation is constantly in demand due to the ongoing humanitarian crisis affecting the region.

Governor Ouédraogo emphasized the importance of strengthening anticipation capacities in the directorate, particularly in identifying the needs of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) who have returned to their localities. This focus is critical in addressing the challenges faced by the region in terms of water and sanitation needs.

Acknowledging the magnitude of his new role, Yaméogo called for the frank collaboration of all stakeholders in the field to effectively meet the challenges ahead. His request underlines the collaborative approach necessary for addressing the region’s water and sanitation issues.
