Bougouriba: The new radio station Pouytenga FM opens its doors. The new radio station Pouytenga FM, broadcasting on 104.3 MHz, officially launched on Saturday, April 11, 2026, in the town of Pouytenga. The ceremony was attended by administrative, traditional, and religious authorities, as well as listeners and many residents of the town.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the station operates under the slogan 'The radio station for businesses, by businesses,' and has positioned itself as a local business station in the heart of Pouytenga, a strategic commercial hub in Burkina Faso. The station's creation is driven by a dual ambition: to become a driving force for regional commercial activity while being a pillar of social cohesion for the local population.
Pouytenga FM's mission extends to being a community radio station, committed to promoting social cohesion through awareness and educational programs while also supporting local development. The station's founder, Oumarou Oubda, who is also the CEO of "Noore Parfum," emphasized his passion for media as a driving force behind the project. Oubda stated, "I love the media because I know it's an essential communication channel capable of creating prosperity. Following a call for applications, I applied and obtained the frequency. We intend to continue our efforts to offer programs that are useful to society."
Oubda highlighted the familiarity the public already has with media and mentioned the presence of professional journalists to moderate listener calls. Hadja Mamounata Veleda, CEO of the Velegda Group and patron of the ceremony, praised the initiative and called for responsible use of the airwaves, emphasizing the educational role of radio.
Louis Modeste Ouedraogo, president of the High Council for Communication (CSC), acknowledged the opening of the station, underlining its significance in socio-economic development. He remarked, "Radio is an essential tool in our context. It contributes to finding solutions to societal problems. However, if misused, it can become an instrument of social division." Ouedraogo urged journalists and presenters to exercise professionalism and vigilance, expressing hope that the station will be an instrument of peace, strengthening social bonds and supporting economic activity in Pouytenga.
