New Provincial Secretariat Leadership in Gourma Pledges Full Commitment

Gourma: The new provincial secretariat pledges to serve wholeheartedly and loyally. The High Commissioner of the province of Gourma, Silas Nacanabo, installed, on Friday, December 19, 2025 in Fada N'Gourma, the civil administrator, Bot©tessan Bonou, in his functions as secretary general of the province of Gourma. He pledged to dedicate himself fully and loyally to carrying out his duties.

According to Burkina Information Agency, civil administrator Bot©tessan Bonou officially assumed the role of Secretary General of Gourma Province on Friday, December 19, 2025, in Fada N'Gourma, replacing Yaya Kon©, who held the position for over three years. The ceremony was attended by administrative, traditional, and religious authorities, as well as members of the defense and security forces, provincial directors and heads of services, civil society organizations, and partners.

The new Secretary General of Gourma Province expressed his gratitude to the highest authorities of the country for the trust placed in him. "This is certainly an exciting promotion, but I am fully aware of the importance of the responsibility and the magnitude of the challenges associated with this position," he stated. Bot©tessan Bonou pledged to dedicate himself "unreservedly and loyally" to carrying out his duties with humility, devotion, and determination.

He paid a heartfelt tribute to his predecessor for the work accomplished at the head of the provincial secretariat and requested the support of all his collaborators, including the prefects, traditional and religious authorities, military and paramilitary forces, provincial directors, community watch groups, civil society organizations, and NGOs. "I am aware that I cannot succeed in this demanding mission without your assistance," he added.

For his part, Yaya Kon©, appointed High Commissioner of the S©no province, expressed his gratitude for the constant support, wise counsel, and guidance of the High Commissioner of the Gourma province, as well as the support of the province's sons and daughters, his colleagues, and his administrative superiors. He also apologized to anyone he might have inadvertently offended or hurt in the course of his duties, stating that he was leaving "without hatred or resentment" towards anyone.

Silas Nacanabo congratulated the two officials for their service to the administration and wished them every success in their new roles.
