New Provincial Council for the Elderly Established in Yagha

DORI — In a significant development for elder advocacy, the Yagha province witnessed the establishment of the Provincial Council for the Elderly (CPPA) on Friday in the conference room of the DREP of Dori, consisting of 18 members.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the council was inaugurated by Moussa Sawadogo, also known as Eric, president of the special delegation (PDS) of Sebba, representing the high commissioner Adama Koussoubé, who was on a mission. The assembly, drawing over a hundred participants from all six municipalities of Yagha, aimed to bolster the support network for the elderly within the region. During the event, the statutes and internal regulations of the national council for the elderly (CNPA-BF), which also apply to this provincial body, were read.

Unanimity marked the selection of the council's 18 members, with each of the six communes designating three representatives. Ousmane Naba from the commune of Boundoré was appointed as president of the council through a consensus decision. The newly formed council immediately undertook roles, with each member assuming a specific position smoothly and without incident.

In his remarks, President Naba expressed gratitude towards all attendees and committed to serving the elderly community diligently. He pledged to advocate for the elderly's needs across Yagha and assured local authorities of the council's support in addressing the province’s challenges.
