LUANDA: The newly appointed governor of Cuanza-Sul Province, Narciso Benedito, has vowed to engage all sectors of the region in a collaborative effort to ensure development and enhance the well-being of its residents. Benedito made this commitment during a meeting with Carolina Cerqueira, Speaker of the National Assembly, following his recent appointment.

According to Angola Press News Agency, Governor Benedito expressed his dedication to transforming Cuanza-Sul into a model of inclusive and sustainable development. He aims to address any challenges that may arise during his tenure by fostering a cooperative approach. Benedito also underscored the importance of continuing the construction of integrated infrastructure projects currently underway in the province.

In his capacity as the leader of the new political-administrative department, Benedito plans to conduct a thorough local study to identify the most qualified individuals to serve as administrators in the 14 municipalities that have been newly established. This initiative is part of his broader strategy to ensure that governance is participatory and effective.

Addressing concerns in the education sector, Benedito committed to overseeing infrastructure projects and ensuring the timely payment of teachers’ salaries in the province’s interior regions. He highlighted the significant agricultural and livestock potential of Cuanza-Sul and expressed his intent to collaborate with the local business community to harness these resources for the province’s development.

Benedito’s appointment follows the election of his predecessor, Mara Baptista Quiosa, to the position of vice president of the ruling MPLA. His promises of inclusive governance and economic development are seen as pivotal to the continued progress of Cuanza-Sul Province.
