New Chief Installed to Lead CRS Missions Amid Challenging Security Context

Tenkodogo: The Director of the National Police Intervention Units, Divisional Commissioner Somnobgna Ou©draogo, has officially installed Police Commissioner Aboudouley Traor© at the helm of the Group of Republican Security Companies (CRS) in Nakamb©. This appointment took place during a ceremony on Thursday in Tenkodogo.

According to Burkina Information Agency, in his acceptance speech, Commissioner Traor© expressed his gratitude towards the authorities for the trust they have placed in him. He commended the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) for their relentless fight against terrorism, honored those who have made the ultimate sacrifice on the battlefield, and extended best wishes for the recovery of the wounded.

Commissioner Traor© highlighted the significant challenges posed by the current security context, emphasizing the need for the intervention units to adapt their missions. He stated that these units are now working in concert with other forces to reclaim control over the territory. Traor© outlined his leadership approach, which will focus on participation, adherence to rules, discipline, cohesion, and achieving results. He also committed to enhancing the welfare of the staff while ensuring the successful execution of their duties.

The staff representative took the opportunity to commend the accomplishments of the outgoing commander, Chief Superintendent of Police Pierre Som©, who led the unit for nearly two years. The representative detailed the group's involvement in security operations across the Nakamb© and Goulmou regions and in initiatives to curb organized and urban crime, acknowledging the sacrifices made, including personnel losses.

The staff also recognized the improvements made to working conditions, despite existing infrastructure and equipment challenges. In his farewell address, the outgoing commander urged his former colleagues to maintain their dedication, discipline, and unity in their ongoing missions.

Regional Director of the National Police of Nakamb©, Fran§ois Sawadogo, called on the officers to support the new commander to achieve the expected objectives. The ceremony, presided over by the Director of Intervention Units, concluded with a call to consolidate past achievements and strengthen collaboration among units tasked with securing the territory.
