New Born Dies from Suffocation at Eenawa

Eenawa: The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) has confirmed the death of a two-month-old baby boy as a result of suffocation at Eenawa village in the Ruacana Constituency of the Omusati Region. The incident, which occurred around 06h00 on Saturday, was reported by NamPol's Omusati Commander, Commissioner Ismael Basson.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the baby, identified as Erius Shaalukeni, was allegedly sleeping with his mother at the time of the incident. Commissioner Basson stated that the baby was not sick and was discovered discharging foam from the mouth.

In an unrelated incident, a 16-year-old girl living with a disability was allegedly raped by a 37-year-old man at Okapya village in the Oshikuku constituency on Tuesday. Commissioner Basson reported that the incident occurred around 18h16 and involved the suspect taking the victim to his room, where the alleged crime took place. The matter was reported by a 29-year-old relative of the victim.

Basson noted that this incident marks the fifth rape case reported in the region since the beginning of the year. Police investigations into both matters are ongoing.
