VILNIUS—The Central Electoral Commission of Lithuania announced on Monday that approximately 2.4 million individuals are eligible to vote in the forthcoming parliamentary elections, with early voting set to commence tomorrow.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the electoral body has finalized the voter list, which includes 2,375,800 individuals. This count encompasses residents who have declared their domicile within Lithuania and those registered to cast their votes from abroad. Detailed reports by the Baltic News Service reveal that local electoral rolls account for 2,326,332 voters, whereas the rosters at Lithuanian diplomatic missions and consular offices abroad comprise another 49,468 registrants.
The commission also noted that nearly 80,000 voters with either an unknown residence or an expired ID document, extending over a year, remain unlisted but are nonetheless eligible to vote. These individuals may be added to the rolls at their respective polling stations across Lithuania or at overseas voting locations upon completing necessary registration forms. This adjustment means that the total number of voters could fluctuate until the voting concludes.
The current tally shows a decrease of almost 82,000 voters compared to the 2020 Seimas elections. The primary election day is slated for October 13, with early voting beginning on October 8 at designated municipal and other polling stations.
